West of Stockholm along Lovön's shore is the UNESCO-listed Drottningholm Palace, Theater and Gardens located. The beautifully situated palace is home to the Swedish royal couple;

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

The area has been royal farmland since 1500-hundreds and the present baroque palace where ordered by Queen Hedvig Eleonora to be built in 1661, influenced by the Varsalle Palace in Paris. The palace with its gardens is today the best preserved baroque palace in Sweden the guide tells you more about the palace which is dedicated to the queens.

Next to the palace is the famous Drottningholm's court theatre located, the only theatre of its kind in the world from the 1700-hundreds. Druring the theatre tour (June-August only) you will hear more of the secrets of the theatre life and the subtleties of the wooden stage machinery. Experience the magical auditorium with the beautifully decorated stage sets, a treasure with motifs from the 18th century theatre repertoire.
