Day 1 - Welcome to Stockholm

Check-in at Clarion Hotel Stockholm (4*) located at Södermalm (The South Island) for a four night stay in a superior room overlooking Stockholm Globe Arena, the National Swimming Stadium and Årsta located on the opposite side of Lake Mälaren and Hammarby Canal.

Day 2 – Trendy South Island (Södermalm) and the impressive Vasa warship 

Meet your guide in the reception at 09:00.

We start the day by taking a walk cross the South Island (Södermalm) and the old working class area with its small red wooden houses. We pass Sofia and Katarina church, home quarters for the actress Greta Garbo and Lisbeth Salander the character in Stieg Larsson's books. From Fjällgatan (Mountain Street) the view over Stockholm harbour is stunning overlooking The Old Town, the old ship yard islands of Skeppsholmen and Kastellholmen. By boat we reach Royal Djurgården island to enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent Vasa museum. The impressive warship sank during her virgin voyage in 1628. The ship lay on the bottom of the harbour for 333 years and was found in more than 40 000 pices. Nowhere elese in the world can a 17th-century wooden ship Vasa's size be seen.

We continue our walk at the Royal Djurgården island which is a part of the world's first City National Park and property of HM the King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. The island has a unique flora and fauna and a popular island among the Stockholmers. Many comes for the big parklands or the open air museum of Skansen or the amusementpark of Gröna Lund, others for the many art galleries such as Liljevalchs or Walldemarsudde or popular museums such as The Nordic Museum, The Viking Museum or ABBA - The Museum.

We pass the small summer palace of Rosendal and the charming garden where we stop for lunch. We use the tram to get back to the city center, passing fashionable Beach Road (Strandvägen), The Royal Dramatic Theater and Raul Wallenberg Square.  At NK department store you can choose  if you want to shop, take quiet moment in Kings Garden Park or why not enjoy the art at the National Museum. or take a boat tour and enjoy the city from the water.

Day 3 – The City Hall, The Royal Palace  and The Old Town

Meet the guide in the hotel reception at 09:00.

We start the day by taking the metro to Riddarholmen, The Island of Knights, with its beautiful palaces and the oldest building in Stockholm Riddarholmskyrkan (The Church of Knights). From the island the Stockholm City Hall can be seen in all its glory. Built by the famous architect Ragnar Östberg in 1923 is an architectural masterpicece and lavishly decorated which you will see during the guided tour. The 10^th December every year the whole world is watching when the magnificent Nobel Prize banquet takes place within the Blue Hall and the dancing in The Golden Hall. Some of the worlds brightest minds are gathered after reciving the Nobel Prizes from H.M King Carl XVI Gustaf´s hand.

First time we hear about Stockholm is in a written letter in 1252 that the island where the Old Town can be found today is a good location for trading and defence. We do a guided walk through the narrow streets in the medival Old Town. We pass The Big Square, The Cathedral and The Nobel Prize Museum. You learn more about The Stockholm blood bath, St George and the Dragon and the mysterious viking runestone. 

We end this half day tour with a guided visit to the Royal Palace. The Royal Palace in Stockholm is on of the biggest palaces in Europe and the official recidence of H.M King Carl XVI Gustaf and H.M Queen Silvia. Since the palace is used on a daly basis you never know how long the tour will be. If a door is closed then you have to go back knowing that the room on the opposit side is used by the Royal Family that day.

Day 4 – A free day in Stockholm

Stockholm has a lot to offer it's visitors everything from museums and culture such as theathers and operas to shopping, restaurants, pubs and night clubs.

Enjoy a free day in the vibrent Swedish capital.
